“The most important muscle is the heart muscle,” he explains. “You can have bigger biceps, bigger chest, and bigger legs. But if the heart isn’t strong, none of these muscles matter. “

But the musician’s simple workout routine isn’t the only thing that’s relatively relaxed. He takes this approach to how he eats too. When he opens his refrigerator to the camera, he explains that he doesn’t believe in the concept of “diet” and would rather call it something much more zen friendly.

“We don’t call it a diet – we call it a ‘Live-It,'” he says with a laugh. “[Food]should give you life. It doesn’t work for me so I say my Live-It. “

As part of his “live-it,” Marley prefers to keep things relatively clean. He’s eliminated sugar, bread, and processed foods, and keeps staples like eggs, boiled ginger water, raw garlic, and kombucha handy at all times. And if he’s looking for some comfort food, Marley might reach for something sweet like cinnamon rolls or cupcakes. But then he doesn’t stick to his relatively simple snack strategy: he strives for something healthy to eat, like nuts.

There is one golden rule that he adheres to when it comes to what he eats: how his body reacts to everything. “We’re only trying to change my Live-It when we know more about what’s good for us,” he says of his overall approach. “We listen to our body because your body speaks to you.”

A few final little tidbits: He only runs outdoors when he can, and he loves to be called “cut” or “torn”. Oh, and when he’s not rocking out to Rage Against the Machine, he’s taking a cue to work with music from someone very special: his father, Bob Marley.
