Virgin Money London Marathon
When it comes to Eliud Kipchoge, the fastest marathon runner in the world, we want to know everything – the glute exercise he swears by in training, how many hours he sleeps each night and the shoes he wants to wear for his next race. That’s why we asked ourselves at the press conference for the London Marathon this week which running watch Eliud Kipchoge was wearing.
While this has not been confirmed by either the athlete or the brand, we believe Kipchoge is wearing a Coros Apex Pro running watch to ensure his pace is up to date in the run-up to the elite London marathon this weekend.
According to Coros, their Apex Pro running watch is “built to last”. The California-based brand is relatively new to the running scene, but has made waves with its line of multisport watches.
At $ 500, the Apex Pro has all of the features you’d expect from a running watch, plus a touchscreen, barometric altimeter, accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, and thermometer. It is lighter than other similar sports watches and has an elegant titanium bezel that you can combine with different bracelets.
For impatient runners, the watch has a charging time of two hours and a long battery life of 40 hours in full GPS mode and 100 hours in UltraMax mode.
It remains to be seen, of course, whether the watch will provide Kipchoge with the data he needs to set a marathon world record in the elite London Marathon. Now to explore what the man himself eats for breakfast …
