Also known as the Zero Carb or Carnivory diet, the carnivore diet is to eat – you guessed it – only meat. With this favorable introduction, it will come as no surprise that health experts find the carnivore diet sketchy (to say the least) and perhaps even downright dangerous.
The Rationale of the Predator Diet
There are several historical precedents of the Predator Diet. "You can see similar diets from hundreds of years ago with certain cold climate strains like Inuit or Eskimos," explains Sharafeddine. "They would live on fat and animal fats year-round, with little or no consumption of plants – but this type of diet is very specific to their climate and has little or no vitamin D."

After all, it is a very simple diet. "People love structure and guidelines when it comes to dieting, and the carnivore diet is as black and white as it comes," says Tracy Lockwood Beckerman, founder of Tracy Lockwood Nutrition in New York City. "They eat meat and that's all."
Is the Carnivore diet healthy?
To be fair, meat is not inherently bad for you. "A full-diet will provide excess vitamin B 12 zinc, iron, and of course, enormous amounts of protein," says Beckerman. Science may be behind the claim that a carnivorous diet can help in curing autoimmune diseases. "If you eliminate any food intolerance, people with autoimmune diseases may feel relief," explains Sharafeddine. Plus, fat is brain food. "If you take a high-fat diet and remove all dietary triggers, it can improve your brain's health and your mood."
But you do not have to do the carnivore diet These results, says Sharafeddine, and it is always a question of whether these results are due to the diet itself or the removal of heavily processed foods and sugars.
More importantly, the disadvantages of the carnivore diet undoubtedly outweigh any potential benefits. Carnivore Diet vs. Keto Diet vs. Paleo Diet  The low-carb approach may be similar to the ketogenic diet, but the carnivore diet is significantly more extreme as it prohibits any non-animal foods, says Sharafeddine. The keto diet forces you to limit your carbohydrate intake, but it does not tell you exactly how to do it. (Therefore, it is possible to take a vegetarian keto diet.) However, with the carnivore diet, you should not consume coconut milk, vegetables of any kind, or even nuts or seeds, all of which are allowed (and encouraged). on a keto diet.

And carbohydrates are not the enemy: they are the primary energy source for your brain and they provide so many different types of nutrients. More importantly, an extremely restrictive diet like the carnivore diet is not healthy or sustainable in the long term.
