The following story contains spoilers for the end of season two of The young. Don’t read if you haven’t seen it. Seriously!
Everyone who watched The young Throughout the second season you had to know that we wouldn’t get through the second season without at least one more head explosion. And folks, in the season two finale … we have another head explosion.
After the absolutely manic, non-stop hemostatic carnage last week at the Congressional Hearing for Vought’s use of Compound V, we got no response to that Heads fucking explode for quite a while. And while much of the season two action seemed to be coming to an end ̵
As the season two finale revealed in the closing minutes, the Head Exploder was – or at least – one Head Exploder – was none other than Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), the deputy to New York Congressman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. After a long phone call where we see her turn a bit political and take care of it Alistair Adana, the leader of the cult The Church of the Collective– who had just successfully brought A-Train back to the seven, but not in the deep (womp womp) – Adana sits, drinks his Fresca and feels victorious. That is, up to his Head fuck explodes and we see Neuman outside doing her thing.
What does Victoria Neuman mean as Head Exploder for Season 3?
Well obviously it means a lot. Our season-end cliffhanger is a combination of the revelation that Neuman actually blew the entire season – including at the congressional hearing – and that Hughie will step down from his role on The Boys to try working in her office . He wants to fight Vought but do it right.
Well, while Neuman looked classy all season, the whole thing Blow people’s heads up What’s a little paradigm shift, no? Yes, she’s against Vought – or so it seems. Fighting Vought “the right way” might be a temporary fix for Hughie to make his life feel a little more “normal” for a while, but given this latest reveal, it’s hard to see it last. Hughie and Butcher are the frenemy bromance of a generation, and it’s hard to imagine they’d stay too far apart for so long The young continues.
Now things are set up for the future in interesting ways. We subsequently learned that not only Hughie, Butcher and the rest of the boys would have their names officially cleared of crime and no longer have to live as refugees, but that the White House would create an office for Supe affairs – led by Victoria Neuman (swallow). When Mallory Butcher shared this detail, she said she would get some cash from the books so that a team in particular can keep an eye on the Supes. If he wants the job, it is his. But right now Butcher is leaving.
It’s clear that these things will come to a head in Season 3. While Neuman is not specifically shown evil With her head exploding, assuming she is the lonely head explode, she made Susan Reynor’s head explode. And a couple of (relatively) innocent politicians and Dr. Bird tree. Among other. And she lied about it and voiced her concern about her Chief of Staff’s head exploding without giving it away, you know She did it.
And she blew Adana’s head in the air. This one was a bit cathartic, to be honest, but still.
Probably nasty. I am just saying. Too much head exploding to let her off the hook just because she’s seems be on the side of our heroes.
An assumption? Season 3 will start with Hughie working in Neuman’s office, and things are going well early on. Metzger will eventually return to lead the Black Ops team that Mallory was referring to and will likely find out some shit. One thing will lead to another, and suspicious shit will lead to Neuman, and we will get our conflict. We know who The head exploded, but we still don’t quite understand why. Power grab? Insider job?
With that in mind, we should say … Stan Edgar definitely knew what was going on. Man, Giancarlo Esposito plays the corporate villain so perfectly that it’s basically impossible to fathom that Stan Edgar isn’t in full control of a particular situation. He blamed Stormfront for the whole situation and knew it wasn’t – but he wouldn’t commit to this type of cover-up if he didn’t explicitly know what it was indeed Case was. And so it seems likely that Vought’s greatest enemy – Neuman – is actually on their side. It exploded Adana’s head when he mentioned all the inside information they had on Supes, just as his information (leaked by A-Train) revealed the inside information on Stormfront’s racist past. We will see. And we can’t wait.
