Tip: You are over-nourished but malnourished



My turning point was vitamin water. In conclusion, I came to the conclusion that America was "overly vitaminized." But I should have expected it. Companies had already "reinforced" everything else, so why should I be surprised that they did it on the water too?

But I may have reacted prematurely. Year after year, the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) shows that America, though overfed, is severely undernourished. Thirty-one percent are at risk for at least one vitamin deficiency or anemia. At significant percentages, there is a risk of anemia or a deficiency of two, three or more vitamins.

The NHANES people concluded that "a small percentage of the US population has adequate nutrition." It seems that fixing vitamins or nutrients in chewing gum, chocolate milk, rice bran bars and yes water is not a fixture.

The NHANES people are doing extensive physical examinations and interviews to determine the nutritional status of the US. Granted, every time you conduct an interview or use a questionnaire, you get implausible results. For example, NHANES has often found that people of normal weight eat more sugar than overweight people.

However, you must do such information with a grain of sugar-glazed and fried salt, as fat people are known to lie on questionnaires. They do not want you to know that the reason for their obesity may be due to poor dietary habits. Instead, you want them to think that they are all Swedish boys and girls with narrow hips until they beat a sorcerer who insulted them with a big curse.

Regardless, NHANES usually reveals what appears to be largely reliable information. For the most part, it's a bit scary:

  • 32% of Americans do not get enough B6.
  • 4% do not get enough vitamin E.
  • 3% do not get enough folic acid. [1

  • 61% do not get enough magnesium (including 90% of teens).

This is just a selection from a long list of shortcomings.

Granted All these deficiencies are based on state-approved RDAs (Recommended Dietary Allowances) or EARs (Estimated Average Requirements). Therefore, they do not consider factors such as level of activity, chronic health problems, or how specific nutrients require the presence of others to be effective. In other words, the deficits could be much worse or more frequent than indicated in their surveys.

Likewise, certain nutrients do not contain any RDAs, which has probably led to a lack of awareness responsible for "shortage rates" of 93%, 95% and 97% for choline, fiber and potassium, respectively.

There are several possible reasons for this vitamin deficiency:

  • Soil quality has been gradually reduced by modern cultivation methods.
  • Food allergies abound.
  • Heavy metal input limits the uptake and use of a range of nutrients.
  • Add all that the siren speaks of incredibly delicious but nutrient-poor foods that we prefer to healthy foods – a stone and a heart place

    Particularly disturbing are the statistics on magnesium. Given that much of the mineral is lost through perspiration and people in general need more of it, can you imagine a particular population that is close to you and cares about you, possibly requiring more magnesium? Yes that is what I thought.

    It does not matter that the mineral plays a role in more than 300 biochemical reactions, not to mention that testosterone levels remain high. The magnesium intake is also inversely related to the calcification of the arteries. An adequate level of magnesium keeps the calcium in the blood so that it can not sway in your veins and arteries (or in your kidneys), helping to prevent kidney stones.

    If the Heart Disease Is the American Number One killer, is it far-fetched to think that our chronic low magnesium intake is responsible for a good part of it?

    Eat Like a Zombie Using an Iron Pan

    There are several things you can do, however, to ensure adequate or at least better nutritional intake, many of which are common sense: [19659016] Eat organically meat whenever possible, as described in The Zombie Diet.

  • Eat nutritious whole foods and avoid them being delivered in a box or colorful packaging.
  • Get 15 minutes of sun (for Vitamin D) twice a week.
  • If possible, consume organic vegetables and fruits (since they are more nutritious, dense nutrients)

  • If you have none Doing the above things regularly, you should take a multivitamin as the basis for your bases. (This is a recommendation of last resort.)

The NHANES survey also found a surprisingly high incidence of anemia or iron deficiency in general. While most men should not take iron supplements without medical approval (for fear of hemochromatosis), women, especially those of childbearing potential, want to consider increasing iron intake.

A Very Effective Old Fashioned Approach This is the purchase of an iron pan from the Tennessee Lodge Company for food preparation. Depending on what you do, the iron will slip into your food. For example, cooking noodle sauce in an iron pan provides about 5.77 mg of iron, compared to 0.69 mg. You will get it if you prepare it in a non-iron pan (the RDA for adult women is between 17 and 18.9 mg per day).
