Tip: Most food allergies are a delusion

Those who refuse food allergies these days undoubtedly sound like the coder above, but if you look at the evidence and the statistics, you start to wonder if there are many. Food allergies are just food paranoia that is amiss.

Everyone in Lake Wobegone Up and Died?

Several years ago, the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) estimated that every year, 30,000 Americans are brought to emergency rooms for allergic reactions to food, and 1

50 to 200 of them ultimately die.

The problem is that these numbers were based on completely unrealistic extrapolations from a study of rural Minnesota people in which 133 of them were treated over a 5 year period for "food anaphylaxis," which by definition means anything itchy mouth to a shock.

However, only 9 of the 133 patients had to be hospitalized. One died, however, was attributed to the movement instead of food allergies.

The FAAN used this study to obtain the above-mentioned figure of 30,000. The problem is, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports only 12 deaths a year from food allergies.

Probably as a result of shitty statistics, the American Academy of Pediatrics ended up banishing peanuts and schools across the country, as did Southwest Airlines (last summer). All this frightening led to a nation of neurotic kids who can not go to a grocery or restaurant without fear of being attacked by the peanut Babadook.

Fictional food allergies

Dr. Ruchi Gupta, a professor of pediatrics at Northwestern U., led a research team that found that most food allergies are similar to the baby book fictional.

After conducting interviews with 40,000 adults, they found that one in ten adults 1 was a food allergy (affecting over 26 million people). However, they also found that one in five think they have a food allergy unrelated to such an allergy.

That means a few things: Yes, food allergies are quite common, but also that millions of people who think they are allergic to peanuts, shellfish, milk, wheat and many other suspicious foods are delusional.

Of course, they could only confuse food allergies with food intolerance, which is when your stomach gets upset by something to eat. Food intolerances can just make you nervous and force you to plan outings around toilets, but real food allergies could kill you.

The lesson here is that you should not self-diagnose alleged food allergies. This may result in certain foods being avoided for no reason, additionally referred to as "persnick" and excluded from many dinner parties. If you think you have a food allergy, go to a specialist and have it confirmed.

Come on, baby, do not be afraid of the peanut

But allergists and paediatricians say the fear is unfounded. Matthew Greenhawt, associate professor of pediatrics at the Aurora Children's Hospital, Colorado, explains it this way:

"One of the common misconceptions we are concerned with is worrying that peanut dust is somehow aerosolized. See if you have peanut allergy you can absolutely fly and do it safely I see too many families who often do not go on vacation because they are afraid to fly, they take their chance to live their lives. "

Build Bullet Proof – And Peanut Proof – Kids

While there's no way to know for sure what these food allergies will trigger (at least the real ones), it could well come from overprotective parents protecting their children from some or all of the kids most commonly affected foods. Those mothers who routinely expose their children to potentially allergic foods – out of wisdom or perhaps negligent indifference – eventually end up with children who are no mess.
