Formerly the exclusive responsibility of epileptics (to control seizures) and crazy bodybuilders, the keto diet is now the "it" diet of the masses after it has completely crushed the Weight Watchers.
It's easy to see how it happened. The keto diet lets people eat as much fat as they want, and they can practically shrink from day to day. But the keto diet is not just sunshine and fried daisies. It has some disadvantages, some of which are serious, and it really is not the best diet for lifters.
Here are some of the problems with the keto diet that make me itch a bit.
1 – Malnutrition Keto dieticians discard whole food groups. Is it hard to believe that deficiencies like vitamin D, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and essential fatty acids are likely? Keto dieters can provide many of these problems by taking multivitamins, but this is a poor and unsafe substitute for the nutrients in real foods.
In addition, scores or even hundreds of polyphenols found in grains, fruits, wine and even beer are like playing Super Mario Bros. and it does not matter, all the super mushroom power-ups in the hand.
1; Bad for Strength Athletes
There is some evidence that keto diets for endurance work well runners and Alaskan sled dogs, but if you are none of those and especially if you are a weightlifter, rely on short power surges, forget it.
3 – Gravelly Kidneys
Many medications I think the keto diet is tough on your kidneys and can lead to kidney stones. Therefore, they recommend the monitoring of kidney function during the keto diet. Unfortunately, I've never heard anyone actually go through this. It would be interesting to see some epidemiological studies to see how strong the connection really is.
4 – Killer constipation
Draining carbohydrates means distraction fibers. Any long-term reduction in actual body weight can be offset by the weight of the accumulated reservoir of fecal matter in your gut.
Keto dieticians should be wary of how Elvis Presley, whose colon was fought after death, was 5-6 inches in diameter and weighed 45 pounds. (All this hip movement could only have been a desperate effort to get his guts working again.)
5 – Keto Crotch
Despite the alliterative name, Keto Crotch is not the newest member of the Marvel Universe (Peter Parker, Matt Murdoch, Jessica Jones, etc., etc.). If so, I doubt that their superpower could be useful in combating crime, except perhaps in very unusual and very specific circumstances.
Anyway, I'm not completely sure that the keto step is a real thing, but there are enough people talking about it on the internet, at least to mention it. Obviously, anything you eat with the diet changes the pH of the vagina, and the lower acidity provides a welcome environment for unwanted bacteria, which can lead to possible infections and an unpleasant odor.
6 – Bad Blood
The dangers of high cholesterol seem to be overrated, but that does not mean that they do not matter at all, and high cholesterol is obtained by eating fat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
7 – The actual ketosis is really rare
Most normal people who do keto diet are not really on keto diet. They slipped out of it when they had that blob of matzo in their meatloaf or that spoon of hidden sugar in their dark chocolate keto fondant. It is probably a bigger problem for athletes who consume a lot more protein to avoid muscle loss than a traditional keto diet would recommend.
These athletes do not realize that the body, if it is not If you get enough carbohydrates from other sources that breaks down amino acids in the dietary protein to glucose and wham, Neo leaves the keto matrix.
Let's call these diets what they really are: Traditional low-carbohydrate diets. (Queuing sounds as the universe laughs.)
8 – Unrealistic Expectations
As every bodybuilder knows, the first weight loss diet of keto (or a low carb diet) comes from water. When you cut out carbohydrates, you lose your glycogen reserves, and for every gram of glycogen you lose, you lose between 2 and 4 grams of water, depending on which source you believe. In any case, the first few weeks of the keto diet result in a loss of a lot of water, often up to 10 pounds or so, which is sufficient to make all dieters happy and intentional lean person plans to a nudist Beach or something to visit
Admittedly, this is a minor mistake, but it gives some people unrealistic expectations about the long term effects of the diet.
