After a series of warm-up exercises, Licis goes with Dr. Horschig for his squat training. He starts out easily at 132 pounds and feels no pain in his tailbone, so he increases the weight to 264 pounds. Only one rep hurt so it climbs to 308 pounds for five reps, with Dr. Horschig observed its shape.

“The second shifted a little to the left on the way up,” says Dr. Horschy.

“I always find that when warming up with lighter weights, finding a center is always a constant adjustment,” says Licis.

“We did a lot of good physical therapy work, made my body feel better, and of course, did squats and deadlifts. It’s all starting to come together,” he says. “I was hit by a car two weeks ago, so I’m in a lot of pain, but it’s getting better.”
