Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has postponed the launch of his expected new training shoe to pay his respects to Jacob Blake, who was shot dead by police this week in Kenosha.
Project Rock 3, the actor’s latest training shoe program with Under Armor, was due out today. Johnson confirmed, however, that the decline has been delayed until further notice so as not to divert attention from the growing outcry over the circumstances surrounding Blake’s death.
“Out of respect for Jacob Blake and his family, we are postponing our launch of @projectrock @underarmour PR3 today. I will keep you informed of our relaunch date,”
In footage viewed more than 9 million times on Twitter, Blake can be seen opening the driver’s door of his car before being shot in the back by police seven times. Officials involved reportedly were concerned that Blake would reach for a gun. However, a Blake family lawyer says there was no gun in the car. According to Benjamin Crump, another attorney representing Blake’s family, Blake’s three sons were also in the car at this point. He was 29 years old.

“It’s unbelievable we’re back here,” Johnson continued on Twitter. “7x shot. Behind. In front of his children. Without humanity there is no progress.”
Johnson has spoken out in favor of the Black Lives Matter movement repeatedly this year, calling for Minneapolis PD officials who killed George Floyd to be held accountable. He criticized the White House’s lack of leadership at such a turbulent time and praised the people who step up and take action to fight for racial justice.
“Changes are taking place,” he said in an Instagram video in June. “It will take time, we will be beaten, we will take our lumps, it will be bloody. But the process of change has already begun.”
