I am proud that I am good and can do many things well: caressing dogs, making unpleasant jokes and cha cha slide dancing with reckless giving up at weddings. But maybe I think it's best to find reasons not to move. Maybe that's a bit extreme (I recently ran a half marathon, so there's that …), but I do not want to pretend that I'm not giving in to temptation any more than I should. Taco Tuesday Margs? Sleep in? A slight change in the outside temperature? A touch of apology and it's goodbye HIIT class.
But then I got the chance to try the NordicTrack S22i Studio Cycle. This stationary bike is the antidote to any excuse for the exercise in the book. The bike does not just work as a bike (you pedal, you sweat, you get in shape!), But also has the coolest technology I've seen in a fitness machine.
You can stream all types of workouts on an adjustable 22-inch touch screen via iFit – an interactive digital exercise trainer that lets you customize your workout plan and fitness goals. iFit also connects you to an extensive library of on-demand workouts, from studio classes with kick-butt trainers (the bike is even delivered with 3-pound weights, so you can strengthen your arms while driving) to real trail rides around the world.
My favorite feature is that the bike automatically adjusts itself to feeling like a studio with a trainer boosting the resistance of the motorbike or traveling in Moab, Utah. It's hard to explain how cool it feels to feel the descent of the bike and change the resistance due to the cliffs and hills you see on the screen. The other advantage? These adjustments optimize shape and maximum muscle for truly effective training. Smart, right?
And if you do not feel like a bike ride today, just flip the screen around and stream a HIIT workout or a yoga class. Only recently I completed a cross-training in which half cycling and half-floor exercises were performed.
NordicTrack also has treadmills, elliptical trainers and row machines with the same iFit technology. There are literally hundreds of training options for each mood, and new ones are added every week. Whether you are like me and only find the motivation to train three times a week, or more like our fitness editor Jamey Powell and training for a 70.3 mile Ironman (!). I have the means not only to achieve but also to destroy your goals.
I am someone who spends no more than $ 10 a month on gym membership, but I think this is an investment for any active or health conscious person should really consider. It's also worth noting that you get a free year of iFit, which usually costs $ 15 a month. It's like having a complete gym brought to your home with a free membership. Did I mention that NordicTrack also offers a 20% discount on the S22i Studio Cycle with code GREATIST? That's an additional 20% discount on the already reduced sale price (that's a lot of money, people). If you want to do something good this year (or anyone else), this is the way to go.
