The health of men knows that diversity is strong

FITNESS IS FOR EVERYONE: It’s one of our core beliefs here at Men healthAnd since we were founded 32 years ago, it has been at the heart of every issue of this magazine.

However, the fitness industry has a problem with diversity, equity, and inclusion. A large. From educational and financial barriers preventing too many people from becoming fitness professionals, to empty and persistent assumptions about who and what fitness is for, a whole host of systemic problems (racism, homophobia, ageism, to name but a few) have developed to name a few) consistently assured disadvantaged trainers from marginalized communities the tools they need to build careers in fitness. They also prevent these men and women from delivering customers in their own communities the kind of fun, exciting workout experiences that fitness is fun. That has to change now, and Men health want to help.

Our new MH The Strength in Diversity initiative offers trainers from marginalized communities the opportunity to work with a cadre of elite fitness professionals. Each trainer receives an advisory mentor trainer. Mentors commit to weekly half-hour calls with their mentees and provide instructions on program creation, branding, education and training design, as well as study instructions. Mentors will also communicate with Men̵

7;s Health to recommend key certifications for aspiring trainers.

We provide further instruction at a number of Zoom Clinics teaching video and social media content creation, the importance of diet to fitness, and the keys to exercising athletes. All trainers have the option to earn certifications from NSCA and Precision Nutrition, and at least one trainer has the option to partner with All Out Studio, the Hearst fitness app.

We hope these trainers will share their knowledge in their communities, create fun, exciting, and effective training plans, and help keep everyone better fit and healthy over the long term.

Men health will be accepting applications for the first grade of the MH Strength in Diversity Initiative by October 16, and the program will begin a week later. Everyone is welcome to apply.

Let’s get stronger together!

(All decisions by MH on who will participate are final. All selected applicants grant Men’s Health the right to use theirs Names, pictures and personal data in editorial materials and for advertising purposes of our sponsors.)
