Considering that this is a big, compliant meal, Thanksgiving does not have the reputation of a healthy vacation. Between this extra filling and one (or three) pieces of pumpkin pie it usually becomes a big cheat day. But new data released by Strava tell a different story: The high-calorie holiday is actually a very popular time to walk. Both in 2016 and 2017, more people made an effort to run Thanksgiving than any other day of the year.
Although the report is surprising, the numbers are surprisingly convincing ̵
1; no other holiday comes close to turkey day: In 2016 Thanksgiving has twice as many runs in Strava as on any other day , In 2017, over 244,000 people attended Stravva during Thanksgiving Day, of which 169,900 were runs. And we're not talking about a quick jog around the block. On average, Strava users ran about 4.5 miles (presumably stamping down a large turkey with cleaning supplies).
