Slipknots Corey Taylor on financial investment and its greatest splendor

With his debut solo album CMFTSlipknot musician and vocalist Corey Taylor has made some successful cash movements over the course of his career – but it has definitely taken some trial and error.

The 46-year-old recently sat down with Men health to share his toughest financial blows and biggest investments, and recalled one particularly big shopping spree during his early success. After Taylor received his first major check, he went straight to Best Buy and bought $ 10,000 worth of DVDs. (Four shopping carts full to be precise.) He said, “If you grew up poor and are getting paid for the first time, nobody will guide you through the process. You just explode. ”

And years later, Taylor made the worst purchase of his career when he invested in a friend’s tattoo parlor that ultimately failed. The investment cleared him of $ 35,000 and the lesson was finally learned.

Today, Taylor attributes his financial success to real estate. You won’t catch him buying a private jet or fancy car, but you can bet he is buying houses. He said buying and reselling houses he lived in for good profit is the best money he has ever spent. “If you move into the right neighborhoods and someone sells a house for a price and it’s more than what you paid for your house, you’re going to make money … and you haven’t even done a thing.”

Taylor’s main reason for learning the ins and outs of real estate is to make sure his children are financially safe. His money mantra? Don’t risk what you don’t want to lose. Hear hear.
