Martins Licis tries CrossFit with Chandler Smith

The reigning strongest man in the world Martins Licis always trains hard and mixes his training methods. In his latest YouTube video, he tries out CrossFit training with the best CrossFit athlete and Army Captain Chandler Smith, as well as the strong man and US Sergeant Anthony Fuhrman.

They begin their training with some mobility movements led by Licis – and surprisingly, the tall man seems to have the best balance in the trio. “There are all kinds of muscles that I haven’t used in this decade,” says Smith. The boys then discuss some of the intricacies behind strict presses and big idiots that rely on Licis̵

7; specialty as a strong man. Smith and Licis also stand back to back to compare their wingspan, and Martins measures a little more. But Smith notes that he lost a finger a few years ago when a piece of armor fell on it. After going through some exercises, the guys get to their rigorous presses and weigh up to 165 pounds.

Licis is up first. After crushing the rower, he actually breaks the Assault bike by kicking backwards, which is swapped out for an Echo bike. After successfully hitting all devices, it ends at 1:13.

“I could have gone faster. I went too slowly on the skier,” says Licis.

Next up is Smith, who runs through the glove at 1:09 am.

“Man, he’s so strong!” Smith says about Licis after the breakdown. “He’s still standing! That was a blackout pace for me.”

But Licis knows who took first place for the competition and admits that Smith was the winner – saving himself the maximum for a rematch.
