Lili Reinhart shares her bedtime routine: pimple-popping videos, prayer, and the occasional bath

Lili Reinhart doesn’t need an introduction, but here’s one: The 24-year-old star is about as famous as any young Hollywood actor. At the age of 18, she left her hometown in Ohio to play in Los Angeles, where she took on the role of Betty Cooper in the hit CW teen drama Riverdale. Reinhart also starred in the 2019 blockbuster film Hustlersand in Amazon Prime Chemical heartwhich was released in late August. Your first volume of poetry, swimming lessonswill be released later this month.

Her Twitter bio reads, “I take as many naps as possible,” and she recounts the feeling during her interview with SELF. Reinhart has spent the past few months resting and getting used to himself. Always an outspoken mental health advocate, she is open about her experiences with anxiety and depression. She is not afraid to share the work she has done to heal from previous traumas as well. “I was a little bit selfish during this pandemic ̵

1; necessarily selfish,” Reinhart told SELF. “Maybe that sounds worse than it is, but what I mean by that is making myself a priority when it comes to my sanity and taking care of myself, whatever that means, whatever that is.”

During most of the pandemic, Reinhart stayed at their Los Angeles home with her dog Milo and her three best friends, who were quarantined for two months this spring. She read, painted and wrote; “I just make sure I don’t sit around and watch TV for 12 hours because it’s hard to sleep when you do that because you’re not actually doing anything,” she says. This week Reinhart is back in Vancouver, where the Riverdale The cast is filming Season 5 after being quarantined for two weeks upon arrival.

Here’s what Reinhart had to say about her bedtime and mental health journey lately.

[My bedtime routine] starts when I wash my face – or when I put on my pajamas.

When I say pajamas, I just mean a loose t-shirt. That’s me – take off my jeans, wash my face, and possibly take a bath. I really enjoy taking a bath, especially at the end of the day. I usually shower and take a bath because baths are pretty gross when you stop thinking about them. I love baths. I am a bubble bath girl. So I do this, I wash my face, maybe do a face mask, go to bed, [and] possibly watch TV.

I didn’t really wear makeup on a daily basis, but when I do wear makeup I definitely keep it very simple.

I use the COVERGIRL CleanFresh Hydrating Concealer, which I absolutely love. [It has a] really, really nice consistency, especially for under-eye circles. For someone who sleeps so much, I have dark pockets under my eyes all the time, so I’m a huge fan of finding a moisturizing concealer to use under my eyes. So I’ll put this under my eyes whenever I want to take a selfie or just want to feel better. They also have a new setting spray in the CleanFresh line and the cucumber-scented one smells so good that I’ll just keep spraying it all day. I feel refreshed.

I check out Reddit. I like Reddit – only certain accounts, of course. Like the strangely satisfying one [subreddit] Thread is really comforting to see before bed. I find some fun things there. I also find pimple popping videos to be pretty comforting before going to bed. Which a lot of people find gross, and that’s perfectly fine – I find it comforting. I don’t like ASMR. Actually, it kind of irritates me. My best friend loves mukbang. No, no, no for me – why would I want to hear [the sound of someone eating] reinforced?

After checking my social media, I hang up the phone and pray.

I am Christian. It’s not a big part of my life at this point, although I intended to make it a bigger part of my life, but I was raised a Christian, still a Christian. I like to meditate even though I’m really bad at finding the time to do it, when that is the whole point. You have to stop and take the moment to do it – I’m really bad at it. I learned transcendental meditation this year and I was really bad at practicing it. That’s something I’ve tried to do more of too.

I am very sensitive to light. The first thing [I did] When I got my new apartment in Vancouver, I installed blackout screens because my room was the brightest thing in the world. I thought there was no way I could sleep like this.

I use an eye mask on the plane and otherwise [I don’t]because I feel like using one every night is bad for your skin. Correct? Unless you wash it.

I like it when it’s cold in my room and I sleep with one leg out of the covers.

I like to sleep with lots of pillows. I don’t like super firm beds. I actually like to be pretty soft. I don’t want to sink into bed, but I don’t want to sleep on a rock either. As long as my duvet is comfortable.

I am always tired of what hurts me.

To be honest, I usually can’t function very well unless I have at least 9 to 10 hours of sleep. I might get 7 or 8 or 9 if I’m lucky, but sometimes I get 12 hours of sleep on my days off. I am a sleep machine. I love to sleep and when I don’t get enough of it I fight. How really struggle to stay awake. That’s a nice little problem that I deal with every day. I would like to say that when I am dead I will sleep, but I sleep a lot and I like to sleep. I wish I wasn’t so tired all the time. But sometimes it’s definitely worth staying out for a long time and pushing yourself and not going to bed early. Some of the best nights you will ever have are the ones where you get over the sleepiness and stay out later than you would.
