Larry Wheels takes pyramid training to a new level

Meanwhile, you're probably following Larry Wheels on Instagram (@larrywheels) and know that the 24-year powerlifting / bodybuilding phenomenon in the gym is constantly reaching its limits. It seems he can use virtually any lifting technique and create his own amp-up version, and his latest series of posts does just that with pyramid training.

Pyramid training is a fairly common method for changing sentences and repetitions during a workout. Rather than just making sets with a single weight and a number of repetitions, a lifter using the pyramid method would change the weight and number of repetitions with each set, either becoming heavier and doing fewer repetitions or with a lower weight and higher repetitions. Wheels opted for both (a triangle pyramid) and brought it back 90 pounds with each repetition.

In three consecutive videos, Wheels worked from 225 pounds to a deadlift of 885 pounds from 1

35 to a 500-pound bench and from 225 to a 775-pound squat. Look at the lifts below and please do not try to lift as much as Wheels.
