Kimberly-Clark, the parent company of U by Kotex, has published a recall for one of their products: U by Kotex Sleek Tampons, Regular Absorbency, which are sold in the US and Canada are taken out of the trade had a "quality defect" that could affect their performance.

The recall was made after Kimberly-Clark received reports about the tampons that "unravel and / or fall apart after removal". Some users already had to see a doctor to remove the tampon pieces that were in their body, and there were also a small number of reports of infection, vaginal irritation, localized vaginal injury, and other symptoms. Tampons (especially the extra-absorbent ones) can drive certain wild types into the wild and produce a ton of TSS-1 toxins that can enter the bloodstream. From there, TSS-1 can cause high fever, drastic blood pressure drops and, in extremely rare cases, organ failure and death. If you recently purchased U from Kotex Sleek tampons, you know that the products included in the recall are between October 7, 2016 and the 16th October 2018 and distributed between October 17, 2016 and October 23, 2018. They can be identified by the lot numbers of the packages, which can also be found on U from Kotex's website. So far, no other U by Kotex branded products have been part of the recall, the company said, and retailers were warned not only to remove the products from their stores, but also to publish a notice of the defect.

Kimberly-Clark urges clients who have experienced itching, irritation, swelling, bleeding, or other symptoms such as flushing, abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting after using the product to seek medical attention immediately.
