Viewer of The Kelly Clarkson ShowClarkson, who has just started her second season, might have thought she was starting her Halloween costume early when she showed up in an eye patch on a recent episode. Unfortunately, the truth is far more painful.
“First of all, I’m sorry that I look like a pirate,” Clarkson told her guest, Common, on an episode that aired earlier this week. “I hurt my eye so I have to wear it. It is ridiculous. You’re being interviewed by a pirate today. “Common told her that she saw her eye patch” fly “but the crowd may have wondered about her injury and why she had to wear the band-aid.
It all came down to dust, Clarkson told NBCLA earlier this week. While working on a long shoot for The voice“Clarkson’s trainer on, the set was pretty dusty,” she said. “I’m very allergic to dust,” she said, explaining that something got into her eye and may even have scratched it. That left her eye swollen, inflamed, and possibly infected.
I had to shoot The voice for a whole day in a patch and I wore all black because it was already the outfit that was chosen, “she said.” I looked like an assassin. ”
Clarkson filmed six episodes of The Kelly Clarkson Show with the eye patch, but these won’t air in sequential order, she said, which could confuse fans. “I’m going to be wearing a patch randomly on a random Tuesday and people will be like, ‘She really needs to figure out her eye situation,” said Clarkson.
Although Clarkson doesn’t say exactly what type of eye condition it is, it appears to be some type of corneal abrasion along with an allergic reaction to dust. Corneal abrasion occurs when something – maybe a bit of dust – actually scratches the surface of the cornea, causing symptoms like pain, cracks, redness, and sensitivity to light, as SELF previously explained. Corneal abrasion also often has a kind of gritty or sandy feel to the eye.
Sometimes doctors recommend that people with corneal abrasions wear eye covering for a while to protect them, although others argue that it isn’t necessary and can actually slow the healing process. In any case, it’s understandable that Clarkson wanted to cover the area on the screen. Thankfully, Clarkson says she’s all now cured – and her pirate days are behind her.
