It's not about weight loss It's about "Why?"

Jay Cardiello stops in the middle of a bustling Manhattan Avenue and looks at the G-SHOCK Power Trainer on his wrist. He wants to pick up his son from school, but he took the time to talk to us about his passion for fitness. Cardiello never expected to be here in Manhattan, talking about discipline and self-confidence. He intended to become a lawyer. But a debilitating back injury changed everything.

Jay landed in 1996 as a jumper on the National Athletics Team at the University of Arkansas "wrong", as he puts it. This false landing has almost fractured his tailbone. He was cast in a complete body – and was given a lot of time to think.

Two decades and sixteen operations later, Cardiello's notions of wellness brought him to the pinnacle of physical conditioning and turned him into one of the highest respected fitness gurus in the world ̵

1; a coach for Fortune 500 CEOs, heavyweight champions and celebrities like 50 Cent and Jennifer Lopez.

Cardiello wears the G-SHOCK GBD800 Power Trainer on his wrist. A watch like this can work wonders when people want to change their lives and achieve sustainable results.

"The watch is a commitment, a way to maintain discipline," Cardiello says. "If you get out of control, give up. The clock can help. It's an indication of your promise-a never-ending reminder you can bear-that acts as a disturber of negative patterns and thoughts. "

"We often wake up and feel stressed about the day ahead," says Cardiello. "And during the night we were stressed, what we wanted to do, what we did not do. The G-SHOCK can help. You can set it so that you are disturbed during this train of thought.

The training timer works in the same way, tracking up to five intervals. And it has an updated digital display of three different rows to easily track fitness progress. In addition, the watch uses the G-SHOCK app to connect to a smartphone, allowing Cardiello to access and manipulate the watch from their phone.

"This watch is your life jacket," he explains. "A memory of swimming."

Find Your "Pull Factor"

Cardiello does not consider himself a coach, but fitness is the final element in a multi-level process that he receives from his clients leads.

"I always start with sleep, then we reduce the work and life stress and then work on emotional stress. Then we deal with the diet and only then we finally talk about fitness.

He uses G-SHOCK to make fitness an organic part of his existence: The triaxial accelerometer records his steps through the city and regularly reviews his progress The last hours of daily alarms and a full auto calendar allow him to integrate his fitness into his busy schedule, and the watch has a memory for up to 200 laps – a lifesaver for a man making a living as a fitness enthusiast.

Even the sight of the G-SHOCK on the wrist helps Cardiello stay focused by acting as a pull factor. A pull factor? He is glad that we asked.

"A goal is a push factor, and that's fine," he says. "But what you really need is something that drives you to success, a constant reminder of why you do that."

A pull factor, he explains, can be anything: a photo or a letter from your partner – or a G-SHOCK watch.

And then he's gone, meandering through the crowded crowds in Manhattan, and we feel full of energy – and inspiration.
