The following story contains massive spoilers for season 2 of The young. Stop reading if you haven’t seen the show or the season two finale!
Definitely the best new addition – and perhaps the best part overall – of The young Season 2 was the character of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a new supe in The Seven, who at first sight looked like a Kylie Jenner-meets-Storm-meets-Thor influencer / superhero. However, as it turned out as the season progressed, her lightning-fast superpower was a little more Emperor Palpatine than Storm or Thor, and she also turned out to be a little more … literally 1
Given that Stormfront turned out to be essentially the human embodiment of racism and evil, their time was natural The young always seemed to be numbered, even after it somehow seemed to become Homelander worse and more depraved when he already was.
And in the season two finale she I let her nazi ass fuck her. One of the best scenes in the entire series came when Stormfront tried to fend off Maeve, Starlight and Kimiko, and the three of them beat her into submission and forced her to flee.
Eventually this led Stormfront into the woods, where they threatened both Billy Butcher and Becca Butcher – which resulted in Homelander’s son Ryan discharging his heat vision on them. And that would apparently be the end of Stormfront. At least we think so.
Stormfront is dead on The young?
Well the obvious answer would be “yes, duh”. We saw Stormfront being sighted to death by Homelander’s son Ryan and we sang in German. Basically, it looked like Anakin Skywalker after meeting Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar. Homelander and Ryan discuss their bodies before Maeve shows up to blackmail Homelander into leaving everyone alone – at least for now.
The next time we hear about Stormfront, it’s from Stan Edgar and Homelander looking through their teeth at a press conference. Edgar claims that Stormfront acted alone and caused the head explosions of Episode 7 (when we never really suspected Stormfront and soon after found out the identity of the real head explorer). Homelander then says that Stormfront – who was his girlfriend, of course – “has been neutralized and is being held in an unknown location”.
The viewer’s instinct here is likely to believe that Stormfront died not long after our last visit and that this is yet another cover-up on a show full of cover-ups. But given what we saw earlier from Stormfront – Homelander lasered her breasts as part of sexual foreplay, she got shot about a hundred times to no avail – we may have to “call the old one until we see a body …” Trope. Stormfront looked damn close to death, but we never saw her totally dead, did we?
Cash doesn’t necessarily expect a return for season three of The young; she said ComicBook.com that she was really only booked for one year old role. But it doesn’t exclude anything.
“I had a wonderful experience The youngI was always signed up for a year so who knows? “She said in an interview with ComicBook.com. “When the writers have something for me to do, I’ll be absolutely there. I think Stormfront’s story was very well told in terms of how it went, but if they want me back I’ll be back in a second.”
Given that season 3 is only now being written and showrunner Eric Kripke … Not show a corpse, well, the possibility is there. And we know Homelander has his secluded cabin where he met Doppleganger as Madeline Stillwell. Would anyone be shocked if this sadistic madman had some kind of Frankenstein / Darth Vader version of Stormfront hidden in this cabin?
Granted, Homelander is in a Starlight and Maeve truck right now, so this could be difficult. And given that Stormfront’s cover has been inflated and everyone knows that she’s not just a Nazi, but now thinks she is blew them all up It might be a little difficult for her to find a functioning place in society even if she somehow survived and recovered. But between Homelander and the evil company they all work for – one who has already rehabilitated Stormfront’s racist past – the possibility seems on the table, though pretty unlikely.
