"Infected Gear" gave this bodybuilder necrosis, and he almost lost his leg

Warning: There are some graphic photos in this post.

It's no secret that some bodybuilders use them, but we do not have to tell you that steroids are not the safest way to build muscle. The use of non-prescribed medications is generally not a good idea, and a bodybuilder learned the hard way that serious health effects can occur.

California born bodybuilder Daniel Marquis, who lives in Thailand, told a shocking story on his Instagram page describing the life-threatening necrosis he had contracted in the leg due to a "shot of infected equipment". Gear is a slang term for steroids, syringes or other steroid-related equipment.

Hello everyone. This is Dan the bodybuilder in Thailand from YouTube. I am in hospital with an emergency situation with my leg. I have developed a life-threatening necrosis in the leg through a shot of infected gear. I am currently in hospital alone in Colombia. I have no health insurance and 3 days ago I had surgery to remove the necrotic flesh that is spreading in my leg. The operation was a failure and ruined me at the same time. The cut in my leg has broken open and new necrotic dying flesh is growing in my leg. In this time of unbelievable physical and mental suffering, any donation, no matter how small I am, to afford my upcoming surgeries to save my leg, is something I will be eternally grateful for. The first operation was paid out of pocket and was in the range of ten thousand dollars. I have at least 2 more surgeries that I need, but I have no financial means to pay them. These operations are also more expensive than the first one. Please share this on all social media you have. I have no goal. Here is a link to my Gofundme. The title is "Dan needs help to save his leg" in the category Medicine and Healing. The link "Make Money" is clickable in my bio-website. Marquis said from a hospital bed in Colombia that he had gone bankrupt through an unsuccessful first operation and set up a GoFundMe to collect money for his next round of surgery to rescue his leg. Over 700 people have donated and raised more than $ 18,000 from their $ 30,000 goal. On Thursday evening, after a successful operation and a positive forecast, he made further donations.

We only have Marquis's report, but it's a scary situation, especially when traveling. And while it's easy to see things like aggression or negative sexual side effects as the biggest problems with steroids, it's important to remember that any medicine you inject has a whole range of risks due to this aspect alone.

We wish Marquis a speedy recovery and safe travel. However, remember its history if you ever inject anabolic steroids to boost your profits. You can follow Marquis's journey on Instagram at @bodybuilderinthailand.
