“A diet high in legumes, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and seeds has long been linked to health benefits, and a healthy amount of gas may indicate this,” says Jones.

These foods contain fermentable fiber, resistant starches, and oligosaccharides, all complex carbohydrates that good bacteria ferment and feed on in the lower digestive tract. Gas is a byproduct of this fermentation, and that’s what you release when you fart. It improves colon health

Before you decide not to eat, give your body a few chances to get used to food. “Often,” explains Jones, “consuming these foods more regularly over several weeks leads to a healthier bacterial balance and less gas production.” However, if this is not the case and you experience unpleasant gas and gas when eating certain foods, talk to a doctor about what might be going on.
