A recent study warns that a pregnant woman should not eat too much potato chips as this can lead to pregnancy complications.

During pregnancy, the mother has to be very careful about what one eats and what does not. A woman tries her best to know every detail about pregnancy diet to avoid mistakes. A recent study highlights the advantages and disadvantages of a pregnancy diet.

The study warns that a pregnant woman should not eat too much vegetable oil and potato chips. Excessive consumption of vegetable oil and potato chips may increase the risk of pregnancy complications and poor fetal development.

Threefold consumption of linoleic acid is harmful during pregnancy. This also increases the risk of heart disease.

The study was published in the Journal of Physiology. "It is important for pregnant women to think about their diet, and our research is another example of how the potential consumption of too much nutrients can have a negative impact on the growing baby," said Deanne Skelly, a professor at Griffith University in Australia.

The study was carried out on rats. Rat mothers who consumed a diet high in linoleic acid experienced three major changes. Reduction of the hormone that promotes the growth and development of the infant, circulating protein concentrations that can lead to a contraction of the uterus and an altered concentration of inflammatory proteins through the liver.

Other foods that you should avoid during pregnancy include:

  • Alcohol
  • Overconsumption of caffeine
  • Papaya
  • Raw eggs
  • Mercury-rich fish

  • Processed f oods
  • Unpasteurized milk and juices
