- In a new YouTube video, Dr. Pimple Popper countless blackheads around a man's eyes.
- The blackheads are so tightly packed that the patient is given a nickname: the masked man.
- A blackhead is a single pore filled with dead skin and oil – and in this case soot and jet fuel. Really.
In a new YouTube video, Dr. Pimple Popper – also known as a dermatologist and TLC moderator Dr. Sandra Lee – on hundreds of stubborn blackheads that form around a man's sensitive eye area. The blackheads are so tightly wrapped around the patient's eyes that he is nicknamed Dr. Lee Receives: The Masked Man.
The masked man has had the collection of blackheads for several years. This is his first treatment with Dr. Lee, where the derm has to try different removal techniques. At first she tries in vain to simply push down with a comedone extractor.
In order to loosen the compacted material, Dr. Lee the blackheads with a blade to "get them going". And it works. The blackheads start to shake and gradually chop around on the "mask". However, some are still stuck, which means the patient is taking Retin-A to loosen the material and return for more pops in a few weeks.
Dr. Lee says that she often sees blackheads in a mask-like formation on current or former firefighters who get soot trapped in their pores. Although this man was not a fireman, he worked in the airfreight business before retiring and often had jet fuel and exhaust on his face. Dr. Lee says this probably led to blackheads gathering.
Like Dr. Lee in the clip says, due to its large collection of blackheads, this is the first of several treatments for the patient. A blackhead is a single pore, which is filled with dead skin and oil and forms a black "head" in the air.
