Do you have a rowing machine at home? Take part in the British Rowing Virtual Championships



If you have a rowing machine at home, congratulations, it will no doubt have been very useful during the lockout. Assuming you've made good use of the machine in the past few weeks, you could imagine jumping at some of the virtual events that British Rowing is hosting, including the biggest of all – the British Rowing Virtual Championships.

These take place on the weekend of June 27-28, so you have a little more time to get into combat to take on the best of the British (provided you have the right gear, see below) A number of events you can tackle along the way to see how you are progressing.

The first has already taken place and included 500 and 5,000 meter races. The next event will take place on May 30th and 31

st, when the rowing distance is 1 km.

Then there are three events in June before the championships. A 2 km time trial is scheduled for June 3rd to 7th. Between June 10th and 14th there is a 4 km team relay, with each person rowing 1 km. The last event before the championships takes place between June 17th and 21st and the distances are 500 m or 2 km.

Until then, you should make your way and determine your distance over the two days of the British Rowing Virtual Championships. Run either 500 m, 2 km or a 4 km team relay. For more information on all events in the coming months, visit the British Rowing website.

Events are tracked using the Time Team HomeRace platform. You need a Concept2 rowing machine with a PM3, PM4 or PM5 monitor to enter (which you must already have because you can't get one for love or money at the moment). Although you can't officially participate in the championships if you don't have the right machine and monitor, it's still worth driving the entire route and seeing how you're doing compared to those listed in the leaderboard.

British Rowing too There are a number of other online challenges where you can row your counters to tackle major challenges such as canal or Atlantic rowing when you find that long-term goals are more than just one-off events motivate.
