Cold-pressed watermelon water for potentially plastic-containing products

Fans of a trendy and delicious – and SELF Healthy Food Awards – – cold-pressed watermelon water may want to check their bottles: World Waters LLC voluntarily recalls several lots of WTRMLN WTR due to the WTRMLN WTR's potential presence of plastic according to an opinion on the FDA website. In particular, the company is withdrawing 18 lots of the original WTRMLN-WTRMLN-WTR-12 packs shipped nationwide to retailers December 22, 2018 and February 5, 2019. They are being sold thanks to the potential presence of "soft plastic," the in some finished products can loosely float "recalled, the company said in the announcement.

And plastic is just not something you really want in your refreshing bottle of watermelon juice. However, the company noted in the statement that there have been no reports of side effects or illnesses related to the recall. The recall is "for the sake of caution and to ensure consumer safety," the statement said.

The only way to find out if your bottle is affected is to check the lot number printed on the bottom. The affected lot numbers are listed here on the FDA site. If your juice is included in the recall, you will receive a coupon from World Waters for a replacement with proof of purchase.

While you're at it, you should also check your chicken nuggets. As SELF wrote last week two Nuggets brands were recently involved in three recalls of the possible presence of unwanted substances – one for a non-declared milk allergen, another for rubber, and the last one for possible wood presence ( yes, wood).
