Bobby Maximus’ 10 Minute Burpee and Lunge EMOM Challenge Workout

Bobby Maximus, former UFC fighter, fitness personality and author of the Men’s health Maximus body Book, hosted the final session. Maximus makes it a point to work out without equipment when he has a fully equipped gym. Therefore, creating an accessible session for men stuck at home with no access to equipment fits perfectly with his training style.

According to Maximus, you really need one thing for today’s session: the will to go hard. (A timer helps too.) Often times, he finds that people are more likely to make excuses for why they can’t exercise than to take the opportunity to work hard and overcome the inconvenience – so don’t let this be you. After all, the training only lasts 10 minutes.

The reason the training is still challenging is because of the format. You use the EMOM (Every Minute on the Minute) protocol, which requires you to perform a specified number of repetitions for every minute over a specified period of time. Usually the setup is designed so that you can rest for the rest of every minute until the next one begins – but Maximus has other ideas. To pump as much volume as possible into this workout, your rest time becomes work time with a second exercise.

Perform 5 burpees per minute every minute. Perform alternating lunges for the rest of each period.

Do you find that boring? You will get at least 50 burpees and a good number of lunges by the time you finish.
