What I want from my skin and hair care routine: Maximum benefit for the absolute minimum effort. Basically, I only want to remove my make-up every three days with a paper towel and some dishwashing liquid and still have glowing, healthy skin. Is that really too much to ask?
Well, definitely, but thanks to some insightful beauty professionals, all the other slackers and I still have a chance to look good. The best part? You do not even have to be awake for all these tips. Follow the advice below, and you can look and feel as if you were trying to do it without much work.
Invest in a Silk Pillowcase
Unlike cotton, silk does not absorb the moisture of the hair and skin. A silk pillow cover can also reduce the number of sleep lines you wake up with. "Your skin will not contract on a silk pillowcase, so your face will look refreshed in the morning," says Dr. Debra Jaliman, a dermatologist-approved dermatologist and author of Skin Rules: Trade Secrets from a Top New York Dermatologist . A crowd pleaser who finds Jaliman's approval: the Slip Silk Pure Silk Pillowcase.
. 2 Turn on the humidifier
It not only prevents the drying out of your sinuses. Turning on a high quality humidifier (not a diffuser), like a cool fog crane, is also good for your skin. "Using a humidifier will make your moisturizer more effective," says Mary Irwin, make-up artist in New York City. A dry room absorbs moisture wherever he gets it – even from the face. If you moisturize your bedroom, your skin will stay that way.
3. Try an Overnight Face Mask
Another way to wake up with damp skin: A night mask is ideal for those who do not have to deal with something that needs to be rinsed off or scheduled. "I'm obsessed with the Herbivore Botanicals Moon Fruit night treatment, so I put it on at bedtime and wake up with a skin that looks like I've spent all day at the spa," says Irwin. Another great option: Rodial Dragon's Blood Hyaluronic Mask (Note: No kites were injured in the manufacture of this product).
. 4 Wrap your hair in a microfibre cloth
No matter what kind of hair you have, you can reduce the drying time (and reduce frizzing) by using a microfiber cloth after showering, like this great one from Aquis. These types of towels dry your hair quickly without it becoming a normal bath towel.
. 5 Do Duplicate Work with Hair Products
If you have natural hair, stylist Kendall Dorsey recommends gently unraveling after washing and adding a combination of control gel and hydration cream. Dorsey loves Oribe Curl Gloss Hydration and Hold and Rich Hair Care, the cream for the curl. Apply with the "shingle method" by spreading the product with a comb from root to the end, straightening and straightening the hair to get definition and length.
If you have curly hair, Dorsey recommends using a restorative conditioner (like the Oribe Antidote) to preserve your wet hair and hand-twisting sections so that your hair will have both the curl pattern and retains when it dries.
For straight hair, curl up Stylist Felix Fischer suggests a "treatment pony" that will make you look like a person who is well-suited to growing up: Apply a moisturizing hair mask (Fischer loves Evolis Professional treatment mask) brush your hair into a simple high ponytail and secure it with a gentle hair tie. Wrap the pony 2.5 cm with a 1/4-inch hair stick, but leave the ends away. Keep going until the whole ponytail is curled. Apply a textured cream and shake the curls for texture and volume.
. 6 Rescue Dryer Blades
If your self-care has gone through really tough times, try running a dryer blade over your hair instead of shampoo. "It sounds strange, but it's actually very effective at picking up static, dirt and oil," says Fischer.
. 7 The five-minute face
"I make a five-minute face almost every day," says Irwin. To be honest, you can probably do it in three cases, if you really lose time. If you're makeup, start with a tinted moisturizer and dab the concealer with two fingers to wake those eyes. Add a cream rouge, brow gel and eyelash line. A bold lip for the finishing touch and you can start.
. 8 Cream Shadow
You do not have five minutes for your face? "If you really do not have time, you should keep your make-up monochromatic," says Irwin. Staying in the same color family makes decisions easier. If you choose a product with a creamy consistency, you can use it on eyelids, lips and cheeks. For lighter skin tones, Irwin recommends a convertible color of Stila in Camellia. for dark skin tones NARS multiple stick in Maui.
. 9 Keeping Makeup Wipes by Your Bed
Both Jaliman and Irwin ask you to take off your makeup before going to bed, and they recommend wipes if you do not want to deal with the soaps. "Often, these wipes have very good ingredients that actually lighten your skin," says Jaliman. Irwin is a fan of micellar water wipes. Burt's Bees has wonderfully smelling wipes with (mostly) clean ingredients and an attractive price.
