As the holidays turn, I find it increasingly difficult to cling to my healthy habits. Traveling is even more challenging because my time is often full of family visits and gatherings. While I may not be able to train as much as I normally do, it's even better to do just a few training sessions at a time. Here are five tips to stay motivated, even when the holiday is very busy!
Walking is an easy way to burn calories, and you can do it everywhere, so I'm looking for ways to go more on my travels. I decide to take the stairs at the airport instead of the escalator and walk through the terminal with my suitcase instead of taking a shuttle or using one of the moving walks. A walk before breakfast or after dinner with a family member is a great way to do something without disturbing your daily schedule.
Keeping Short (and Sweaty)
When My Timetable Is Full With travel and activities, I usually do not have time for a long workout. I create short, challenging workouts that burn calories and leave you with a sweaty mess. Normally, my workout lasts 20 minutes or less, but I'm really doing it myself, so I think it's just as effective as my normal workout. Take a look at this 1
Use your pack to motivate you
If you pack my luggage for a trip, I definitely pack my sneakers and at least a few of a workout outfits. It's hard to find excuses when I have everything I need to do!
Rise and shine
I like to sleep on vacation, but most mornings I wake up early to train myself before everyone else gets up. I usually make a round before breakfast or do a short CrossFit workout. When I first fit into my training, I can not skip it later in the day when I'm busy with my family and friends.
Recruit a Training Partner
When I travel, my husband is usually my husband's dedicated fitness buddy. He trains with me and keeps me motivated. If it is unavailable, I will recruit another family member (or friend) to walk or run with me. Exercising is a great way to stay active while having fun while enjoying the company of loved ones!
