If you have a smartphone, you have a personal trainer. Some of the most powerful training motivators are in your pocket and all are free. Here are 3 of my favorite fitness apps that really boost your workout – and best of all: all have free versions!

Fitocracy
Fitocracy makes you happy workouts in a game. It personalizes your preferences from the beginning and asks you about the basics such as age, height, weight (which are NOT displayed in your profile), fitness level and whether you belong to a gym. Fitocracy challenges you with missions you need to fulfill, transforming your training into a game by earning points while burning calories while training. You can then brag on Twitter Facebook and Tumblr. It's a funny phrase of challenges and routines. If you are the competition and like to turn your goals into a game, you will really hit Fitocracy.

Endomondo
If you want to make the world your universe Endomondo has you covered. By using GPS tracking in your smartphone, Endomondo automatically maps the route you use to keep fit while running, cycling, walking, skiing, skating, or doing other outdoor activities. It also records your time and distance so that you can challenge yourself at your next workout. The Pro version ($ 4.99) even includes interval tracking for High Intensity Interval Training, a favorite of mine that brings intense training together in no time. There is even a low power mode when the battery is low, which may seem like a small feature at first glance, but on the iPhone you need it!

GAIN Fitness Cross Trainer
The Gain is perfect for beginners who are not sure when they should have time to work out. This app has real people demonstrating strength movements, yoga postures and heart. Suppose you work out at home, you have a sturdy table and a dumbbell, you want to burn fat and have 30 minutes. GAIN will create custom training to your specifications, showing you moving pictures and tips to keep in mind when creating the right shape. The GAIN Fitness Cross Trainer is for beginners and newcomers who are looking for new inspiration, like a personal training in the bag.
